Dr. Nikolaos Stamatakis has been awarded a Habilitation from the University of Paris, France. He also completed his post-doctorate in Sociology at the University of Sao Paolo, Brazil. In 2013, he obtained a double Ph.D. in Criminology from Belgium (Ghent University & University of Liege), while already holding a Ph.D. in Sociology from Athens University for Social & Political Sciences in Greece (2007). In addition, Dr. Stamatakis holds a M.Phil. in Law from University College London / UK, a LL.M. from National University of Ireland, a M.A. in Criminology from Catholic University Leuven in Belgium, a PG Diploma in Restorative Justice from Queen’s University, Canada, a Certificate in Victimology from Tokiwa University, Japan, and he recently completed a MA in Religion (Peace & Conflict) from Uppsala University, Sweden. Dr. Stamatakis has also worked in organizations such as the Greek National Centre for Social Research, the European Commission, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the Penal Reform International (Kazakhstan), the Criminal Sanctions Agency of Finland, the New Zealand Police, and the US Federal District Court in LA. Dr. Stamatakis was also involved as a lead consultant in the Citizen Security Programme of the Trinidad & Tobago Ministry of National Security.
